Supervision:
RCI believes that the key to quality staff performance is consistent and effective evaluations. All staff members have the opportunity to evaluate themselves and compare the results to the evaluation completed by their supervisor and team teaching leader. At each evaluation meeting, goals are established and an action plan for accomplishing the goals brainstormed. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining a documented record of the efforts the employee makes in accomplishing their goals.

Each classroom teaching team is to be formally evaluated in its implementation of the High/Scope approach on a semi-annual basis, by one of the Agency Directors. This includes a classroom observation and feedback session in which modifiable issues are discussed.

Informally, all employees are routinely evaluated, relating to how a teacher conducts an activity such as art, small group or morning greeting time, or centered on parent / teacher relations, discipline approaches and team-building efforts.

Training:

RCI has an extensive formal training and workshop schedule that exceeds NYS Regulation requirements. We offer over 50 hours of training per staff member per year. Training is given in curriculum, child development, nutrition, communication, health & safety, discipline, diversity, music, reading, inclusion, assessment, team building, classroom management, and many other areas.

Internships:

As part of our collaborative efforts with local high schools, career/technical education schools, and colleges, we offer internships and work-study positions to qualified students who will pursue a career in the early childhood/education field. Instructors are often on-site to document their progress. Interns must meet all RCI’s hiring, screening and training protocols, including fingerprinting.
