Home Who We Are Work/Volunteer Screening and Selection Criteria
Screening and Selection Criteria

Our thorough selection process starts with an application / interview to ascertain the individual’s personal philosophy regarding child care and education. All candidates for positions at the center provide a health history, verifiable references, and a sworn statement regarding felony conviction history.

During a one or two day pre-hire evaluation, candidates must demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development; a willingness to perform job duties; and an ability to exercise appropriate judgments related to children and job responsibilities. In addition, they are monitored for the qualities RCI demands in an employee, i.e. friendliness, ability to talk to children, meeting children on their levels, a natural curiosity and the ability to ask questions.

Candidates selected for hire are fingerprinted and investigated through the NYS Central Clearance Registry for illegal or inappropriate activities.  A call is also made to the Suffolk County Sex Offender Hotline.
