Licensing: All early childhood programs in New
York that provide education and care services for more than three
children, more than three hours per day, must be licensed by the
NYS Office of Children and Families (OCFS). Literally hundreds of
details are checked before a program can be licensed; at our level
of programmatic quality, this specific information fills a four-inch
thick binder.
Each of Rainbow Chimes’ programs and centers has a valid
license that is renewed on a timely basis in accordance with OCFS
regulations. We have never had the need to request a fair hearing,
and no Rainbow Chimes site license has been subject to suspension
or revocation. This information can be verified by calling OCFS
at: 1-800-732-5207.
Accreditation: Our former Huntington and present
Western Suffolk BOCES “Little Tots” sites were among
the first early childhood programs in Suffolk County ever accredited
by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC). We are currently near the
end of the final self-evaluation phase at the new Huntington site.
Accreditation standards are rigorous and require a complete professional
faculty, approved developmentally-appropriate educational curriculum,
strict health and safety standards, and terrific parental involvement.
This prestigious honor is awarded to only 3% of programs nationwide
that can demonstrate the achievement of NAEYC’s exacting quality
standards.
