Often, prospective sponsors prefer to work with other close-by
local business organizations to share resources and costs, as well
as child care slots. In a consortium, a child care center is supported
by two or more sponsors which share expenses and productivity benefits.
If your business is located near other employers and potential partners
to this option, it is well worth exploring.
Cost allocations are generally made on the basis of how many employees
each business has. For example, one sponsor may agree to provide
the space; another to pay for renovations; another to furnish the
facility, and still another to provide meals and custodial services.
A formal or informal arrangement with the Long Island Association,
local school districts, local hospitals or corporations with whom
the corporate sponsor shares an interest, could also provide the
“slot volume” needed to keep costs down, yet quality
high.
Rainbow Chimes Directors can assist your business to envision and
take action steps with possible consortia partners, and to work
out the shared start-up / operational agreement in an equitable
and satisfactory manner.
